Seen at Schreiner's Iris Gardens - No. 7 - Poppies and Peonies

DSC_0481

Orange poppies with lots of petals.

Delicate pink color. Were they poppies? Were they poppies? I didn't walk around to the other side to find out for sure.

Robust red poppies.

Red poppies with lots of petals.

Is this peony pale pink? Pale orange? I believe it's a lovely tone of the two of them at their most pale.

Another lovely combination of color in these peonies.

I tried to get creative here with the three blossoms from the photo above and focus on the one in the center--this is straight out of the camera--but there's too much of that out-of-focus bloom on the left, in my opinion. I'm not taking the time to crop it. Should I have done that?

Every time I look at this lovely pink peony, I'm amazed that these are flower petals, not feathers!

Another lovely pink peony from the same plant.

There's fire in this beautiful poppy.

This beautiful poppy reminds me of Crayola Crayons.

There's a teensy tiny, big-eyed fly on the poppy in the center. Wow.

Thank you for visiting Schreiner's Iris Gardens and for sharing your beautiful photos. We wanted to notify you that the brightly colored blossoms you refer to as poppies are actually Ranunculus. Thank you again for visiting. We hope you'll stop by again next spring!

I LOVE peonies but so far, am not very successful in growing them, though I hope to do better next year.
