A dose of cherry-flavored optimism

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough.

A.E. Housman (1859–1936)

Spring, 2008, fallen cherry petals at the curb
Spring, 2008, cherry blossoms in the sky
Both, 2007
I'm already planning for spring, 2009.

Growing up in Washington, D.C., it was an annual rite to see the cherry blossom trees downtown as well in a suburban neighborhood that has hundreds of them as well. I remember scooping up handfuls of the fallen blossoms, tossing them in the air, and exclaiming, "Look, pink snow!" as they fluttered to the ground. Wonderful photos.

I like the last photo - it looks like the car has been in a parade with confetti.

That is great photo. Compare to the other cars it appears the one cover in petals must have been parked there for a few days.
