Yonder Stands a Mountain

hood_sunrise

Mt. Hood, over 60 miles from Portland, popped into view one morning last week as my No. 4 bus crossed the Williamette. Once I got off the bus at my stop, I made my way into a nearby parking garage, walking up a few flights until I could see the mountain pretty well with my CoolPix L12. When I get my Nikon D50 back, I'm going to buy a tripod for my zoom lens and get us a really good photo of this fascinating sight.

I never ever dreamed I would live where I could see mountains every day, or that I would only be a few hours from the Pacific Ocean. I love Portland!

As you describe your environment, it makes me a tiny bit envious. Where are you from--originally?

Ah, Lynette, re. your comment on my blog--you MUST watch Ken Burn's new documentary,_WAR_ because one of the 4 towns featured, using WWII veterans, is Luverne, MN, and the premier was held there this past month. On our PBS schedule it begins this Wed, I think!

Hey, that's beautiful. I had the same view here in Norwich yesterday but didn't get to shoot it. Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo.

What a beautiful picture!
I've been thinking of getting a tripod also but I wonder if I'd take the time to use it. Most of my photos have to be taken "NOW".
I did get to view Powell's. What an impressive place! Thanks for asking.

Great photo! Very beautiful. If this is what you can do from a moving bus, I can't wait to see your tripod shot!!

Thanks to North Bay Photo for making me realize I'd mislead y'all about how I got the photo of Mt. Hood. I forgot to explain that I got off the bus! And walked into a parking garage! Goofy me. Sorry.

Thanks for visiting my blog, Lynette. I am just like you, I am a very curious person, and like to learn about other people's lives and about where they live.I also visited your Mama and Me blog, and still have lots more to see there!! You are on the other side of the Pacific...when I am on the beach later today, i will shout out a VERY loud 'helloooo' to you! Yes, ATCs have become an obsession all over the world.

I like your comment about walking to the top of a parking garage to get the shot. I do that all the time ... I look forward your D50 photo.

Oh what a shame, those wires spoil a terrific photo.
