UPDATE and here's dessert for my Saturday night supper. Go, Dawgs! It's SEC football time, y'all!

UPDATE: Slept well, slept late this morning. I felt fine, but I stayed so sleepy that I had to give up and get in the recliner where I dozed off and on the rest of the morning until Lamont texted to ask if I wanted to go to the grocery store in a little while. I'd asked him to take me with him when he planned to go for me on Saturday, that I wanted to go instead of sending a list and my shopping bags with him. So, I woke on up enough to get ready. I felt OK doing it although I could tell that I was still very tired. After we got back and he put away most all of the purchases, we hugged bye-bye, and I headed back to the recliner. Five, six hours later, I finally woke up enough to get up out of the recliner. I don't feel like I'll fall asleep again right away, but I'm staying outta the recliner, to be safe because I don't want to fall asleep this early!

For supper I ate a little bit of deli baked turkey, sliced thinly like I like it; some green grapes; two little bitty croissants; a little bit of Coca-Cola from a big bottle named Tailgate. For dessert, these two totally perfect Fudgsicles. I love these triple-C sweethearts: creamy, cold, chocolate. I have to control myself and let them sit for a few minutes so that they thaw--that's what makes the creamy and the chocolate get ahead of the cold and reveal their perfection. Yummy.

I missed most of the first half of the Mississippi State University vs the University of Southern Mississippi football game. I woke up in time to see State stop Southern at the goal line, so State still leads 14-10 at half time. I hope that I am able to stay awake for the rest of the game. Let's go Dawgs! Win this football game! I just got to ring my Mississippi State Cowbell app! Mississippi State, 21-10! Yeah! Yea! Yippee!

It's just about time for some college football. Well, to tell the truth, it's been on TV and the computer already for hours and will continue into the night.

DSC_0346

Before we begin, take a moment to learn the ground rules of being a college football fan who watches on the computer or TV instead of at the stadium because it's over 2,600 miles away.

Get some ice cream in a bowl. Don't forget your spoon.

And some Coca-Cola in a glass filled with ice. Or, if you're of a mind, put away that bowl, get out a bigger glass, and make yourself a Coke float. Change your spoon for a teaspoon so that you can stir and reach deep into the glass and spoon this delightful drink into your mouth. Yummy.

Let the action begin! My Mississippi State University Bulldogs play Auburn, over in Alabama. I believe I shall be able to watch on my computer screen if all goes well. Go, Dawgs!

She's home! And finally, I got to see the New Orleans Saints play on TV!

I took this photo at the Grand Central Bowl last March.

Monday we knew about 11 a.m. or so that she could go home, but it took until about 2:30 p.m. to get outta there! Not that they didn't do a great job taking care of her, but y'all know how just plain tired it makes everyone when someone is hospitalized. We were so ready to go that we completely forgot a couple of things. Leland's going there tomorrow to get them. He and Lamont are coming over to the apartment around 2 p.m. to check on her and to vacuum the rugs and run the Swiffer over the floor--I'll be at work.

Mama's on home oxygen when exerting herself which right now will be pretty much all of the time that she's awake--her oxygen saturation level needs the home oxygen to be at a good level for her. She's got an appointment in a month with both the cardiologist and the lung doctor. Before those two she has an appointment with her regular doctor and the eye doctor. Thank goodness Lamont and Leland can help out with those.

Once again, thanks to everyone for your good wishes and prayers!

I'll go back to the vacation fun soon as I get rested up a bit.

Who dat beat the stew out of New England?

All I got to see was the 4th quarter--too much going on around here, fixing supper, walking to Walgreen's to pick up the prescriptions, listening to the home oxygen instructions, washing the dishes.

Y'all notice Mama's got on her Mississippi State sweatshirt--that's in honor of their Egg Bowl victory. I know I already mentioned it, but I can't help myself, I'm still so tickled about that score, 41-27!

Mama Update and Banana Cream Pie

Banana Cream Pie from 3 Doors Down Cafe, SE 37th and Hawthorne, Portland, Oregon!
3_doors_down_banana_cream_pie

I'm home, doing Laundry, but I've just talked with her on the phone. She told me she felt a little better--hooray! I asked her to ask the doctor to call me if he shows up before I can get there--I'm riding the bus today because both guys have to be at work from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. at the earliest. And I thought I was tired!

Yesterday she walked twice in the hall, with a hospital walker whose wheel(s)--and I use that term loosely because you actually couldn't see them turning--made a sound so embarrassing that I told a nurse in the hallway, "That's the walker, not my Mama!" She was attached to an oxygen cylinder on wheels which, thankfully, made no sounds at all. She also sat up in the chair several times.

The only food she ate with any enthusiasm was a piece of banana cream pie from 3 Doors Down Cafe--Kathy and Dave sent it in one of those cute little white take-out boxes. Dave wrote "Get Well!" on it. The minute I mentioned it to her, she said, "I want some milk to go with it," so I pushed the button and ordered some lactose-free milk.

I'm off in a few minutes to put the stuff in the dryer.

Thanks again so much for all of your prayers and good wishes for each of us. We are truly blessed.

P.S. How 'bout them Dawgs! At this point, I really don't care about the season record, I only care about the 41-27 whupping Mississippi State put all over Ole Miss. (Sorry to my Ole Miss buds, but just think about it for a minute. Wouldn't you be just as obnoxiously excited?

I beg your indulgence ...

... while I soar with joy at Mississippi State's victory just now! They've won the SEC basketball tournament and an automatic selection to the NCAA tournament, known by some as March Madness, by others as the Big Dance.

Go Dawgs!

Go Dawgs! I'm fired up for the Mississippi State Bulldogs!

And if I were not a 60-year-old full-time employee, I just might fix my hair like this young man to totally illustrate how fired up I am! Yippee! Whooeee! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! That's my virtual cowbell, rapidly ringing, loudly marking my joy.

I wonder if they make non-permanent-more-maroon-than-neon-red hair spray? I've already got the hair products to mold my hair into a celebratory shape, so I'm half way there.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Go, Dawgs!

Our Happy Holidays' Photo Shoot for Y'all

Flat Stanley and Duncan wish one and all a Merry Christmas, from the comfort of Duncan's pine green rocker.

Now, for the first time, meet two more of our loved ones. First on the left is Purq (pronounced Perk), our purple and turquoise cat. In the middle is Cow-Dog, whose creator repeated this question while fashioning him, "Am I making a cow or a dog?" And, of course, on the right is our well-loved, lucky boy, Flat Stanley himself. The guys are wishing you a Merry Christmas, from all of us here in Portland.

For a bit of levity, I thought I'd share this one with you, too. Duncan, our darling dachshund, couldn't stay still long enough to get a shot with all four of them. He sniffed at Purq and Cow-Dog, upsetting the precarious balance of Flat Stanley's Vespa, and decided it was now time to leave the pillow-filled armchair. I caught him before he could jump!

Let me say that I can't think of a better present for myself than the CDPB and all who post there. It's been an inspiration to me to visit as many cities as possible, to see the evidence of your love for where you live. I believe in what you're doing, for so many, many reasons. Thank you.

Finally, I must say, "Go Beavers! Go Ducks! Go Trail Blazers! (in alphabetical order). And most of all, GO DAWGS! (as in my beloved Mississippi State Bulldogs)."
