UPDATE and let's go for when Portlanders needed umbrellas for Throwback Thursday

UPDATE:

My hair is loose, y'all. If I run my fingers through what's left after that short hair cut on July 21, I have hairs between my fingers. I don't feel them leaving my head, there's no tugging or pulling or pinching. It comes out while I'm sleeping, too. I'm OK with this because I know why it's happening. What if I didn't know the reason? I'd be panicking right and left. As it is, I'm centered by knowledge.

Yesterday, since I took a several-hour-nap, right after noon through 3:30 p.m., I was wide awake until 12:45 p.m. Then I managed to sleep until 7:15 a.m. although I woke up twice during the night. 

I've got to get this sleep thing worked out because two weeks from yesterday, I'll return to work part-time, August 26 through September 8, then have Chemo Round Three on September 9.

That's what I expect to happen, that's what I'm planning for. It all depends on what sort of whammy Chemo Round Two is on August 19.



Cars in the Park, June 18, 2011--theme of the day, Chevrolet. Folks came out to enjoy the vintage vehicles on display in the South Park Blocks in downtown Portland, umbrellas and other rain wear at the ready. We're in front of the Portland Art Museum--inside it there was an outta sight wonderful exhibit, The Allure of the Automobile. Every week throughout the summer, cars shows with a particular theme took place. A vintage vehicle lover's paradise, let me tell you.



Every which way, pedestrians with umbrellas. I remember when I moved here, the guys told me I'd want a raincoat with a hood so that rain wouldn't run down my neck at the collar, dripping there from a rain hat. They also said that umbrellas proved to be a pain. I took their advice and never looked back, until I realized that sometimes I'd be OK with my little travel umbrella given to me by British Airways on my last student/teacher/stray adult trip to Europe in 2001 when some of us got upgraded to Business Class--wow, that was superb! I love that little umbrella which easily slips into one of the water bottle pockets in my everyday purse. Very seldom do I have to use it because when rain is predicted, I wear my hooded raincoat. It's a back-up I'm blessed to have with me.

Nope, this car show's not going to the dogs even though this dog came prepared for the weather.

Since I saw this good lookin' vintage pickup truck on my March 9, 2013, after-work commute, I have decided that there is someone out there who gets lucky twice a day, Monday through Friday. What I mean is that if you can't luck out and live on a bus line or a MAX line (and be able to afford the daily cost of a ticket) and therefore have the opportunity to use mass transit for your workday commute, I believe this would be the way to go. Feast your eyes on my serendipitous capture of a 1950s Chevrolet step-side on it's way south on NE 20th Avenue. Did you notice it's vivid blue matches the recycling bin on the sidewalk? That the red letters on its hubcaps that spell out Chevrolet match the red hand in the Don't Walk traffic signal? I don't have to ask if you realize just how happy I was to have my camera around my neck as I walked the block and half from my bus stop to my apartment door.

Please tell me the year of this truck. Thanks!

1962 Chevrolet Corvette, not listed as a muscle car in the article, but who cares? It is gorgeous. For me this paint job has the most beautiful flames I have yet seen.

1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible. The placard on the dash said, "Car was in storage for 20 years. Purchased in 1971 for daughter graduating from school." Great gift!


The same 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible--it's an SS which, according to the Wikipedia muscle car article's facts, is an actual muscle car in general, with this particular year showing up on one list as a mid-size muscle model.


1970 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport, a muscle truck, according to the Wikipedia article. I saw this same vehicle at Cruisin’ Sherwood. Scroll through the other yellow vehicles to find those photos of this gorgeous muscle truck! Since I had just put that post on the blog the day before this car show, I took out my iPhone and showed it to the owner who got a kick out of seeing the photos I had taken in Sherwood. If I remember right, he had the only El Camino at Cars in the Park. (I know, you're thinking, well, Lynette, look at your photos; I didn't take a photo of every single vehicle there, only the ones that hollered, "Lynette!")

1969 Chevrolet Camaro--see the SS on the rear of the car. In the Wikipedia article the Camaro is listed as a pony car. Here's a definition of a pony car, n affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image.

No paper in the window, so no facts to share about this Nova. In the Wikipedia article, it says that the 1968-1969 Chevy II Nova SS396 is a muscle car, in fact Car and Driver listed it as one of the 10 best muscle cars in it's January 1990 issue. Does anyone know which year fits this car? I found an advertisement for a 1963 which is certainly what this one resembles.
