UPDATE and a lamp post detail in need of some TLC

UPDATE: I made it better going to and from work. In fact, I went on an after-work field trip in search of fried chicken by catching a bus across the street from work--it let me out in the same block as my destination, then I caught one later on right across the street that took me downtown a little over a block from where I caught my last bus of the homeward commute. I found a fried chicken breast on the side at Pine State Biscuits, as well as a biscuit with butter and strawberry jam. It satisfied my craving but wasn't really what I was looking for--I'll have to keep looking around Portland for it 'cause I'm not gonna be cooking it myownself. After I got near home, I stopped by the Blue Diamond to visit a while and was there long enough to get hungry again, about four and a half hours after the chicken. So, I decided to see if I could satisfy another craving I've been having, for a steak. I ate almost all of a tasty small sirloin strip steak, nice-sized baked potato and a side salad. I haven't done anything like this is weeks. I walked on home and don't feel sleepy yet which is good since it's just after 8 p.m. I'll be walking in the building's hallway over the weekend and on Monday. Thanks for your continued prayers, love, and concern. Y'all mean so much to me!

Earlier this week I noticed this when the streetcar stopped to pick up or drop off. I thought it certainly worthy of a photo to share with you.

Here's a bit of a wider shot.

And one still wider which also includes the sign for the business on the corner. I hope you've enjoyed these three photos on the blog today.

UPDATE and today, out and about! Plus one photo from yesterday that Leland saw and wondered why it wasn't in the blog post

UPDATE: I managed to sleep from about midnight through 6:15 a.m. Hooray! I felt like getting out and about, too. I hope this trend continues.

First, here's the photo that Leland wanted me to be sure post. I took it while sitting in my aluminum folding lawn chair. There's an small tree, some sort of evergreen, between the sidewalk and the low wall alongside the pawn shop's parking lot. I really like how it turned out. What do you think? A-OK? Leland, thanks for reminding me to post it!

Around 11 a.m. today I walked down to the Blue Diamond and sat down at the little picnic table they have at their backdoor where employees take a break. I rested, then continued to the corner, turned east toward home and detoured through the bar's front door. I sat at the bar on a high stool and enjoyed a side salad with ranch dressing. I drank two glasses of water.

Then, I succumbed to a craving I've had for over a week, for a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They warm the brownie a bit, put the ice cream on it and drizzle the whole thing with chocolate syrup. I feel like a new woman, ha, ha! Plus, I don't have any leftover brownie or ice cream in the apartment, which, believe me, is a good thing!

After I sat outside on the pew in front of the Blue Diamond for a little while, I continued east on Sandy. I stopped to take this photo so that you can see the rose bushes beside the Silver Lining Pawn. The smell so good!

I sat down to rest on the bench in front of the pawn shop and took this photo. I love these balloon facsimilies! I rested there, then continued walking east until I came to the low wall around the bioswale on the corner. I sat there for a couple of minutes before walking over to the Albertina Kerr thrift shop in back of the big building.

Once I crossed the street and before I continued to the thrift shop, I noticed these beautiful flowers and decided to try getting a photo of them that I liked. I've cropped this one and really like how it turned out. I'm very excited about my new camera, which, by the way, is no heavier than my not-quite-full purse.

One more, cropped to let you see it better. I'm thrilled with this photo, y'all. Thrilled!

Spring, in our future. BLT, in my past. Well, some time again in my future, to tell you the truth.

Spring really is on the way, despite the fact that I came home from the Sunday night Portland Trail Blazers' game an hour or so ago in a cool, moderately heavy rain. I took today's photo on Saturday at 12:52 p.m. while I walked from visiting Lamont and Leland at The Circuit Bouldering Gym to the Blue Diamond where I ate lunch and checked my lottery tickets--won $4.00. Lunch was fantastic, a BLT and fries, with an RC Cola.

NFL Playoff Football.

I won't be drinking anything but RC Cola, but I will be watchin' and rootin' for my team. I've been a New Orleans Saints' fan for years and years. Not time to change that now, no sireee buddy bobtail. Nevertheless, all Seahawks' fans are most welcome at The Blue Diamond PDX! I'll be on my best behavior, no matter the outcome. Go, Saints! Come one, come all. For your enjoyment, lots of great items on the food and spirits' menus.

Sky-writing jets, #1

Click here for a trip to City Daily Photo, transporting you around the world every day.

Sky-writing jets on Saturday, first noticed as I waited for the 12 or 19 bus to downtown. I needed to transfer to the MAX Yellow Line for a ride to the Kaiser Interstate clinic for my flu shot. I took this photo at 8:16 a.m. looking southeast over the buildings just to the east of the Blue Diamond PDX.

I took this photo at 8:19 a.m. as the sun continued to move in the fantabulous blue sky.
