Portland Trail Blazers' Strength and Conditioning Room, seen at Player Palooza, Feb. 2, 2015

I took enough photos that with all these mirrors, I saw some folks several times, but none more than my sweet friend Janessa! In this one, she's looking up at the posters on top of the wall, I'm guessing. I couldn't get them in this landscape-oriented shot, but she didn't have any trouble enjoying them from where she stood.

These two guys are also in the first photo--see them? Player Palooza means a lot to kids of all ages. I cannot imagine being their age and getting to go behind the scenes, to talk with players and coaches. Flat out wonderful, no matter your age!

Plenty of equipment here. See me in the mirror? Janessa? The boys?

And, there we are again, in the mirror wall! Hmmm. These seem sort of close together to me. Wonder if, now and then, sweat flies off onto others.

Winter Opposites - No. 4, a shocking development

While out and about on a sunny August 30, 2008, I came upon this scene. My best guess is that the woman was driving east on SW Salmon between SW 12th and SW 11th when her car caught fire. She pulled into the parking lot, called 911, then called the man who arrived in the vehicle on the left edge of the photo. As you can tell, the fire's been taken care of by the fire fighters, and she's being taken care of by the man. I like the thought of the comfort he appears to be giving her as they stand there, surely she's still in shock at this huge change in her life.

Seen on a TriMet bus

July 24, 2010, after work on the homeward commute, I couldn't resist taking a photo of my work friend you see here--she worked in another department during a specific season for several years. We got acquainted at the bus shelter waiting for our first bus home, easily chit-chatting together from the get-go. She's from New England originally. Can't you just hear her fantastic accent? I can. Doesn't she look classy-sunny-day-summertime-perfect? And this is at the end of the work day! The last time I saw her, serendipitously this summer walking on the sidewalk downtown, she told me she was working full-time at a major department store and that she and her husband were contemplating moving back so that they could be closer to family. She already knew that she could transfer to a store there. I hope all goes well for them, no matter which coast they call home.

In response to one of my commenters, Andy, here's a link to what's in the news right now about TriMet. And let me make it totally clear, I do not work at TriMet. I use TriMet every time I leave the apartment, unless I'm going somewhere within walking distance, going somewhere in a Zipcar, or going somewhere with my sons or  a friend who has a car. I find all space associated with TriMet to be perfect for people watching, vehicle watching, and therefore, taking photos.

Framed for Christmas, No. 6

Christmas_ship_framed

The night of my birthday in 2007, December 12, cold air kept me inside my friend's great big white boat, some of the time. You see, he and his sweet family took Mama and me and other friends of theirs out on the Columbia River to experience the Christmas Ship Parade. When I got warm, I'd step from the living room onto the back deck, maybe it's a swim deck, I don't know the exact term. I just know that I felt safe enough there to stand very still and try to get a good photo of any nearby boats, all lit up for Christmas. Here you see one of the clearest images I managed to get that memorable night.
