The gray pole and the girl on the bike

Her left hand disappears just beyond the gray pole. She's pushing the button to make the traffic signal change on NE Sandy so that she can ride her bike north across the street. I like the perspective here, the disappearing sidewalk and the rooftops that extend over the sidewalk. The pole supports the traffic signal for vehicles heading south at the intersection.

Looking at this photo, it's difficult to believe that NE Sandy is a four lane thoroughfare. I took it on Sunday, March 6, when I was out for a walk. It started to mist right after I took this one, so I hurried on home.

Windy after work and a gray pole in the distance

On Monday because it was not raining after work, I got off the bus a few blocks early so that I could get in a bit of a walk. The wind blew through these foil strips at the Dave Russell Motor Co., making a rustling sound I could hear over the cars on NE Sandy. I wonder if any of them came from the pre-owned car lot?

Look way down the sidewalk, there in the distance. You can just make out a gray pole. Tomorrow's post involves that pole.

The absence of color waits to board the 70 bus

I took this photo looking north at the intersection of NE Sandy, NE 12th and East Burnside. The 70 bus stop is on NE 12th. Perhaps someone is inside the bus at the door, about to step off. I say this because it appears the woman with the white hair hesitates, with her right knee bent, before stepping forward. She seems to be looking straight into the bus, too, which makes me think she sees someone moving towards the door. Or perhaps I just clicked at the split second that captured her beginning to move. What do you think?

This juxtaposition of the used car lot and the bus stop speaks for itself in these days of rapidly rising gasoline prices--surely both will become more busy as more people take the bus and/or rid themselves of larger vehicles. I took this photo on a Saturday, on the way back from the vet, so it's not representative of any sort of commute, but I have noticed much larger crowds on my morning commute for the past two weeks.
