Seen at Schreiner's Iris Gardens - No. 11 - The bee and the lupine

DSC_0106

A bee being busy all around the lupine.

DSC_0109

See what I mean about all around the lupine?

DSC_0122

Finally, the bee stopped long enough for me to get a pretty good shot.

DSC_0125

I like this one, too. I was lucky to get it since the bee took off afterwards.

Seen at Schreiner's Iris Gardens - No. 10 - Gunnera and Hosta

DSC_0142

That is one of the Adirondack chairs you've seen in other Schreiner's Iris Gardens' posts. It gives you some idea of how huge these leaves are on this gunnera!

DSC_0139

The birdhouse on the pole gives you an idea, too.

DSC_0145

This stuff is part of it, too.

DSC_0158

Massive even though these leaves have not yet opened.

DSC_0162

What could have made this grow in a curve?

DSC_0164

Here's Leland in another Adirondack chair--he's not quite six feet tall--for more perspective.

DSC_0156

And here's Leland taking a photo, more perspective. You'd have to have a really big yard to include a gunnera.

DSC_0443

Hosta beside the path to the backyard of the house between the front gardens and the demonstration gardens.

DSC_0446

These leaves capture sunshine so beautifully!

DSC_0445

I really like the hosta beside the rhododendron.

Columbine.

DSC_0267

Columbine.

DSC_0176

Columbine with allium beside it.

DSC_0130

Clematis. One of my favorite photos from Memorial Day.

DSC_0129

Clematis. A slightly different photo.

DSC_0063

Columbine.

Seen at Schreiner's Iris Gardens - No. 8 - Adirondack Row

DSC_0475

There, in the background, one of the well-placed, colorful Adirondack chairs. I wanted you to be able to read the sign which is also in the next photo, a wider shot.

DSC_0474

I noticed another bowl of water at the entrance to the demonstration gardens, but I didn't notice any dogs.

DSC_0261

I call this Adirondack Row. To me, these chairs enhance the gardens beautifully.

DSC_0254

This one's a bit crooked, but I like it anyway. I was trying for depth of field, I think you call it, with the green one in focus and the others not; also, the bench is a bit out of focus, too. If I try to straighten it, I bet I'll lose part of the back of that green one. I'm pretty tired and need to go to bed, so I won't try it. (I'm doing this post on Tuesday night, for Wednesday.)

DSC_0228

Looking at Adirondack Row from the other end of the gardens.

DSC_0230

Trying that depth of field thing again, if that's the correct term. I like this photo, too.

Seen at Schreiner's Iris Gardens - No. 7 - Poppies and Peonies

DSC_0481

Orange poppies with lots of petals.

DSC_0247

Delicate pink color. Were they poppies? Were they poppies? I didn't walk around to the other side to find out for sure.

DSC_0225

Robust red poppies.

DSC_0220

Red poppies with lots of petals.

DSC_0133

Is this peony pale pink? Pale orange? I believe it's a lovely tone of the two of them at their most pale.

DSC_0132

Another lovely combination of color in these peonies.

DSC_0128

I tried to get creative here with the three blossoms from the photo above and focus on the one in the center--this is straight out of the camera--but there's too much of that out-of-focus bloom on the left, in my opinion. I'm not taking the time to crop it. Should I have done that?

DSC_0095

Every time I look at this lovely pink peony, I'm amazed that these are flower petals, not feathers!

DSC_0092

Another lovely pink peony from the same plant.

DSC_0071

There's fire in this beautiful poppy.

DSC_0069

This beautiful poppy reminds me of Crayola Crayons.

DSC_0067

There's a teensy tiny, big-eyed fly on the poppy in the center. Wow.
