Friday, July 18, 2008 ... What is this cute car?
I don't know what it is, but I believe it fits right in with sleek week. I'm hoping someone can identify it for me. Walking along SE Hawthorne one day, there it was, toddling along in the sunshine, one of our prettier March days.
That is a Nash Metropolitan! So cute! Wanted to say that I lurk regularly on your blog for the pics- used to live in Portland and I miss it so! -Amanda
You can almost always see a black-and-white Metropolitan sedan parked in the garage at SW 1st and Morrison. It's said to belong to a famous Portland musician!

Superb! I knew someone would know! And I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, lurking and looking. Portland's certainly fine as far as I can see.

ReplyDeleteAmerica's love affair with cars!
ReplyDeleteWOW! A Nash Metropolitan! "Louis" remembers a TV ad for these on Disneyland when the show first came on TV in the mid-'50s.
ReplyDelete(Editor to "Louis:" You are dating yourself....
"Louis" to Editor: So? Speaking of dates, you haven't had one in years. Small wonder with your prickly personality....)
There's a black and white Metropolitan in San Francisco with the license "Pepe le Peu."
"Louis" is loving these car posts!
Ah, I see you've already had an answer to your question. Love those little Metropolitans!
