View from Mama's windows, moments ago.

In and around Portland, it's been raining, it's been blowing ... off and on for days. That happens this time of year, with welcome sun breaks now and then.

Still and all, beautiful sights await my camera and me. I couldn't believe that at the moment I decided to push up one of the windows in Mama's bedroom and take a few photos of the trees across the street, there walked two women in perfectly colored raincoats--more street-level accessories for our autumn leaves. Oh, I didn't lean out to take the photo this time because I wanted to stay dry!

  2. Oh, what a beautiful tree! And you get to see those gorgeous leaves every day, that's so nice. A magical sight at dawn and dusk, isn't it? And the street accessories, yes, I remember the other photo from the window and the cars... What are the odds?! :D

Have you made a wreath with red and yellow maple leaves yet? I made one a few years ago. Very beautiful (and very time consuming!).

A lovely Sunday to you, the Mom and the pooch.

  3. Lovely red and orange colors on the tree, and the raincoats. Couldn't of planned for that, if you'd of tried. You peeked out the window at just the right moment.

  4. And those leaves sprinkled around on the pavement, they look just right there.

(PS) The beach was near Garibaldi, just north of Tillamook.

  6. What a pretty picture! I still say you have the most colorful leaves I've seen. I'm glad you didn't lean out the window again. lol

  7. I know you probably miss Mississippi a lot, so I'm going to tell you that you probably wouldn't see colors like that on the trees in the South this year! The drought (and horrible other weather) has played havoc with autumn colors. . . .

By the way. . .I read your facts. . .I used to teach English, too. You lasted longer than I did, though!

  15. The fall in the US is "incomparable." The ladies on the pavement seem to be cold.

  16. My word, that is just SPEC-tacular! The weather here in Oz is very hot at the moment ....

Glad you liked the iris picture and I certainly didn't know it was the basis for the fleur de lis.

  18. Lynette, there is one thing that kept me from being able to make a link in the middle of a post. You copy an address and paste it in but before you paste it delete the little http:// that is already in the slot. I hope that makes sense. If you don't then when you copy you put it in there twice. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll go thru it step by step like someone did with me.

  19. Neat-o. The rain jackets "match" the tree!
