I took this photo on a December, Saturday, as Leland and I drove by in the Buick, a couple of hungry folks on the prowl on Interstate Avenue. As I snapped the photo, I said, "Leland, the sign says lunch! Let's try here!" Turned out to be a brilliant decision. We went there again Saturday before last.
My lunch on our second visit, a really tasty, juicy, meaty hamburger on a skillfully toasted bun, served with the crispiest waffle flies I've ever eaten. Well, to tell you the truth, I had waffle fries with a different burger back in December, so this is the second time that I've eaten them.

The ambience and decor in that place look waayyy cool. And I love the colorful signs!
I don't know if I need to say this, but the waffle fries look amazing.
It's good thing you explained the polar plunge because for a second there I thought they were throwing Special Olympics kids in the icy river...Sure, Portland is progressive and all about making sure the marginalized have the same opportunities as everyone else, but I was like damn they've really gone balls to the wall for equality this time.
Boy, the interior sure takes you back in time. The burger and fries are right up my alley though.
