Un, Deux--Deux Chevaux

Driving on July 31, from downtown to the Southeast, with Lamont and Mama on board, when I slowed at an intersection I saw this cute little car. I grabbed the camera from the seat beside me and quickly got Photo #1 and Photo #2. I couldn't back up to get a better photo because another vehicle was right behind me. So, I held the camera up to the window, pointed it back toward the car and clicked off Photos #3 and #2.

Little did I know that a couple of hours later, after the three of us and Lindsay had had a good time at Bar Avignon, that Leland would look up from behind the counter where he worked diligently preparing orders and say, "Mom, look at that car," then point with his chin out the front door, onto SE Division. Thus, Photo #5. I believe it's the same Deux Chevaux, but there is every possibility that more than one shiny, maroon and black beauty lives in Portland.

Thanks to Snapper at Gabriola Daily Photo for his post that helped me identify the car.

Wow! So cute and shiny! We have a few of them in Mashhad too but not as clean as yours. Visit this page of my blog http://day2daypictures.blogspot.com/2008/08/hotel-homa.html
Click on the small photo in the middle, the photo of mine, and look at the background, you'll see one of these cars. We call it "Zhian", a product of Citroen Ltd. You can find more information in the wiki

The car in your photo is Citroen 2CV model, 1983. See this, you'll enjoy

Interesting car. I don't think I have ever seen one like that. Originally, I thought it had wood paneling.

Great views of a great car. Thanks Lynette!

I have never seen anything like it before. It looks wild.

My dream car. Was a huge hit in France, very cheap to run and fix. And unbelievably fun to drive!

very cool car! if you'd only taken the occupants photo the first time we'd know for sure if there was more than one or if it was one and the same!

I can only think of one thing to say about this car:
Yum. For me, that's the ultimate. I would love to have one of these and as an afficianado of shots from cars, through windows and reflections and refractions due to windows I have to say that these photos are all 10's.

By the by, if you don't mind my asking, what kind of camera are you using? I'm looking for a new one and your photo quality is wonderful.

"Louis" wants to get a 2CV. There's a man in NJ who restores them and sells them at a reasonable price.

I just new it was something from Citroen. I have seen a few and ridden in a couple. The lines and the way the car sits is amazing, the ones I had seen and ridden in had the internal compressor which sets the ride height and feel. They are great to change a flat on because you do not need a jack, just pump the suspension full and the flat will be off the ground. FUN CAR! Nice shooting and great eye!

I suspect the owner is very proud of this vehicle. It is certainly in grand condition.

Did you see the link that Z from Villigen provided to the BBC for the 60th celebrations in August?

Hi Lynette! Thanks for coming by and commenting on my photo of a pair of these cars. They seem to have quite a following, these 2CVs.

And for your other readers, I should paste here the link to the BBC story Julie mentions (slight correction, the anniversary date is in October):
